Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-II
Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-II (WIAT®–II) provides reliable information about an individual’s academic skills and problem-solving abilities to guide appropriate intervention. It is a comprehensive measurement tool useful for achievement skills assessment, learning disability diagnosis, special education placement, curriculum planning, and clinical appraisal for preschool children through adults. WIAT®-II provides norm-referenced information about all areas specified by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and for evaluation and academic planning for college students with disabilities. WIAT–II is the only achievement battery linked with WISC–IV®, WPPSI–III®, and WAIS®–III. Discrepancy scores are used to compare achievement and ability.
WIAT®–II includes a broad sample of curriculum content. Subtests include a detailed description of the specific curriculum objective(s) underlying items to facilitate a thorough evaluation of an individual’s skill area strengths and weaknesses. WIAT–II was standardized on a large sample representative of the U.S. population, including individuals with learning disabilities, ADD, language-learning disabilities, mental handicap, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, those who are gifted and talented, and at-risk preschoolers. WIAT–II is useful for evaluating problem-solving strategies as well as achievement. |
